Doulas are often referred to as "mothering the mother." The main concerns of a doula are the health and happiness of women and babies. A doula can serve as a friend, a counselor, a confidante, a coach, a source of information, and much more.
As a certified Birth Doula, I am dedicated to helping you achieve the birth experience you really want. It is my belief that every woman should have the right to ask questions, make decisions, and determine her own choices when it comes to the birth of her new baby.
With me as your Birth Doula, you will have continuous support as you need it throughout your pregnancy, labor, and birth. While busy doctors, midwives, and nurses may be limited to a short time with you during labor, you will have the undivided attention of a caring birth professional. This continuous support alone can make labor easier and quicker.
My duty is to provide the support and information that every woman should have while preparing to deliver a child. Your goals are my goals! Whether your heart is set on a home birth or a hospital delivery, I will be by your side with all the comfort and encouragement you need. During your labor, I provide continuous support, labor massage, rotational positioning, and anything else you need.
Birth Doulas live by the notions of evidence-based care and informed choice. This means that I provide you with any information you could ask for in an unbiased and judgment-free way. I can help you explore alternatives and learn everything you want to know before making decisions about your pregnancy and birth.
Fees for my services are on a sliding scale. Because I believe all women should have the option to have a Birth Doula guide them through pregnancy, I offer payment plans and other financial considerations. I also offer discounts to students in the area.
